Save the Sitlington Countryside

Boom's appeal allowed - the solar farm to go ahead.
Unfortunately the Inspector's decision has been announced for the solar farm. The appeal is allowed and the solar farm has been given planning permission.
Although this is very sad news for Sitlington we would like to thank you for your support over the last 3 years.

You can download and read the decision notice here.
Save the Sitlington Countryside is a community group made up of residents of the Sitlington Parish – the villages of Middlestown, Overton and Netherton in Wakefield. We are opposed to the proposal by Boom Power to build a solar farm on 158 acres of green belt land at New Hall Farm, Overton.

The New Hall Farm proposal is in addition to the 210 acre solar farm on adjacent land, already given planning approval by Kirklees Council. If planning for the second area is given, 360 acres of local green belt land will be covered for a minimum of 40 years.
The cumulative impact on local residents and those in surrounding areas, the wildlife and ecology could have permanent and devastating effects.

You can take action and make a difference by objecting to the proposal, once it is submitted to planning at Wakefield Council. To be kept up to date on when to do this, sign up for our updates here.
